XIM APEX

The XIM APEX (MSRP $99.99, Amazon.com)

XIM APEX (XIM5) is the successor to the XIM4.

It is the first XIM to take on a USB dongle form. The XIM APEX plugs directly into your game console, and accommodates any USB hub.

The major benefit over the XIM4 is 1000 Hz polling rate (compared to the XIM4’s 125 Hz polling rate).

XIM APEX was released to readers of the XIM forums at 5pm PST on February 28, 2018.

OBsIV announced the XIM APEX through a post on his development blog (http://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=3819.msg641775#msg641775), in which he identified the following differentiating features in addition to the XIM APEX’s 1ms response rate:

  • full wireless cross console controller support
  • wired headset support for PS4, full analog joystick support
  • multi-language support
  • more flexibility with hardware setup and cable management
  • price

<h2>Price</h2>
The XIM APEX retails at $99.99, keeping in line with what OBsIV said: “XIM APEX will cost less than XIM4 and do more” (http://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=59139.msg642042#msg642042)

<h2>Design</h2>
XIM APEX is the first XIM to come in dongle form
Every XIM APEX sold will include a XIM hub
You can use any USB hub

I’m a fan of the modular design

Response (Latency) Modes
1000 Hz – increased polling rate could help milk full potential out of mice with quality sensors.

Subjective Comments
antithesis reported, “There is a noticeable improvement in tracking on the Apex, silky smooth is the best way I can describe it. It is by far the best Xim experience of the four generations I own.” (http://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=59162.msg642163#msg642163)

XIM4

The XIM4 (MSRP $124.99, Amazon.com)

has been the gold standard in keyboard + mouse adapters for the current crop of gaming consoles.

With the announcement of XIM APEX, XIM4 production has ceased. It will continue to be supported.

Definitely check the authorized retailer for your country alongside the Amazon product page through the XIM4 Shop.

On July 11, 2014, OBsIV posted again to indicate that the XIM4 was on track for an August 1, 2014 release (http://community.xim.tech/index.php?topic=3819.msg431216#msg431216)
